• Sand Point Meet Summary
Our team had an excellent Sand Point meet. There were tons of fast
swims, best times, and new friendships. Many swimmers and parents
experienced their very first swim meet. We hoped you liked it. For
those of you in a free relay at the bitter end, thanks for sticking
it out. Most meets are
usually finished by 9:30pm.
Our swimmers of the meet were Haley Larsen and Ray Wade. Great job!
• Volunteer expectations (HELP!)
Please remember to volunteer at our home meets. We can’t
function without you.
Our biggest needs last meet were help with ribbons (putting
stickers on and handing them out), and timing. We need 36 timers
per meet. Timers for the first half should plan to be outside the
office for the timers’ meeting at 5:45pm.
• Snack Bar
Thank you to all the volunteers who helped at last Thursday's snack
bar and BBQ. The
parents of 12U and 10U
are up for Tuesday’s meet.
Volunteers are still needed for:
- BBQ (3-4 dads needed). Prep/set-up occurs the morning of
the meet.
- Selling at the snack bar. Shifts are short. Check in and
out during the meet to relieve workers. You will be able to slip
out to see your child swim.
- Clean up clubhouse towards the end of the meet
- Donate baked goods to sell. Donuts, cupcakes, cookies
and brownies are all good choices. Please remember to
individually wrap these items. Two cookies wrapped together sell for
.50, unless they are really big.
Thanks to Rhonda Okazaki for
organizing this.
• Event requests
Coaches do take event requests and usually are able to grant them.
Please remember to email at least 36 hours before the meet to
increase your odds of success! aquaclubswimteam@yahoo.com
• Missing Meets
Remember to mark meets that you are missing on the sheets at the
shallow end of the pool. You can also mark “E” if you
need to be done early or “L” if you are showing up
late.
• No Swim Team Practice on Monday, July
5
Sleep in. (Yes, there
are swim lessons.)
• Family Meet
Mark on the missing meet chart if you are not available. We’ll split the team into
two halves, and have at it. We’ll also try and top last
year’s fun with more crazy family relays at the end. Parents
are also encouraged to participate. We put the watches away for this
part…
• Clinics
We have four Saturday Clinics left. The next two focus on turns,
while the last two will cover technique and race strategies.
Pre-register or drop in. Cost is $10.
• Race Classes/Swim Lessons
Remember to sign up for the second session of swim lessons. Class sizes are much smaller
than regular swim team workouts.
• Team Sweats
Remember to pick up
team gear in the office. The second (and last) sweat order is due
Wednesday at 5pm. Swim parkas should be in this week for
those who ordered them. Thanks to Kelli and Tim for putting
this together.
• Team Picture
Pictures are Tuesday, July 13 @ 4:50pm (Before the Sheridan Beach
meet).
Everyone receives a free picture at the
banquet.
